If I Had A Dream
by Peter S. Quinn - May 29, 1999

If I had a dream so tender and blue
That somebody could be in love
I would hand that one over to you
As a peace offering white dove

But nothing's there in hour of rain
When clouds are all dark or grey
So I wouldn't send any in vain
I'd wait for the very next day

Hardly needs to be spoken about
Smiles come when it is sunny
Even in larger lingering crowd
People start calling you honey

If I'd be your dream ever so true
I would hold you closer to me
And see each mountain straight through
Or at least on the very top of them be

For otherwise my feelings would strain
Each passion that lay still stray
And I'd just get it in very small grain
Too little of everything anyway
