Longings
by Peter S. Quinn - May 5, 1999

This morning has given me sunshine
And my longings are well established
The rays of the light are like red wine
Though in their own beautiful mystic and twist
The colour of the sky is clear and all blue
And the distances too far to be clearly seen
As I sit here in the garden longing for you
And wondering, where last night, you've been

I have thoughts every day just like these
And every thought I know is like a flower
That turns sideways with each fresh new breeze
Growing stronger and stronger with each shower
Fore each heart that is broken becomes a stone
That you will tumble over, more then once
Now I sit here and gaze afraid and alone
I can't except my longings to be of bygones
